RACE FOR
RESEARCH
Thanks to all our volunteers and participants
for a great turnout on Sunday, August 18, 2024 in
Washington Park, Denver!
We couldn't have done it without you!
For more information or to donate year-round, visit the Race website at www.race4research.com
The Race for Research was founded in honor of Michele Plachy-Rubin. Michele was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 1996. Her friends and family organized the first race in 1997 to raise money for cancer research efforts in Colorado. Michele participated in the first race with her young son but unfortunately lost her fight with cancer in 1998. The race lives on in her memory.
ABOUT THE RACE.
The timed 5K walk/run kicks off with the Kids Fund Run for kids 12 and under. Then all runners and walkers wind around the park and pass through the Morton Publishing’s Miracle Mile, where posters honoring loved ones touched by cancer are displayed. After crossing the finish line, relax and have fun in the post-race Expo, where you can enjoy a free pancake breakfast, a free craft beer in the Beer Garden, and dance to the live band Look Both Ways. Wander through the Expo booths to pick up fun giveaways and drop the kids off in the Kid Zone where they can ride the kiddie train and play games with the clowns from the Colorado Clown Alley.
Form a team and invite friends and colleagues to join! Consider starting a fundraising campaign for cancer research and patient support services. Prizes and trophies are given to top teams and fundraisers.

SPONSORS.
MIRACLE MILE WALK POSTER.
Raise $150 or more for cancer research and you can honor a loved one with a poster in our Miracle Mile. There is no limit to the number of posters you can request, just raise $150 per poster.
HOW DO I SET UP MY POSTER?
Once you have raised at least $150 in donations, we will contact you by email. You will then have the option to nominate someone whose life has been affected by cancer with a 18″ x 24″ poster on our Miracle Mile at the Race for Research. Your poster can include a single photo or it can be a collage of photos of your honoree. We will ask you to email us a digital photo (s) and our graphic artist will create a draft of a poster for your review before printing.
The deadline to receive your donations and the photo for your poster is August 3. This allows time for the creation and approval of poster artwork and printing.
These posters then become the property of Cancer League of Colorado. They can be renewed annually for $150. Want a copy of your poster to keep? Tell us you want to have a poster and we can have an additional copy of your poster mounted on foam core printed for you for a $20 fee.
CAN I FUNDRAISE AS PART OF A TEAM?

Yes, a group can also fundraise. Get together, family, friends or coworkers and share in the fundraising. Individuals who are part of a team can maintain their own fundraising totals within the team. We can see what your individual progress is towards the $150 poster target.
What if my donor prefers to write a check?
If your supporters prefer to mail donations in by check, they can be sent to:
