In it’s April/May 2012  issue, Colorado Expressions featured the Cancer League of Colorado and its efforts to raise millions for cancer research and patient care. The four-page profile on the Cancer League of Colorado recounts how this 503-c charitable organization has awarded more than $10 million in grants for cancer related service programs and research within the state. The profile also focused on the 38th Annual Hope Ball, which is being held May 5th at the Hyatt Denver Tech Center.

“We have a very powerful message at the Cancer League of Colorado,” Edie Marks, chair of the Annual Hope Ball, told Kathy Smith at Colorado Expressions magazine. “We are 100 percent volunteer, no paid staff, no office and we’re managing $1 million. It’s like running a corporation. And people just can’t get their heads around that.”

The story also focuses on Edie Mark’s long history with the Cancer League and what motivates her to volunteer. Marks also details the lessons she learned as a teacher, her success in real estate and her involvement in the passage of the Poundstone Amendment. Download the article
