July 24, 2016 — One of Cancer League’s new Service Grant Recipients for 2016 is Camp Courage, an organization dedicated to giving children dealing with cancer treatment an outdoor camping experience at no cost. Camp Courage provides children with a rich, rewarding experience that gives them coping skills to deal with the challenges of living with cancer — yet in an environment that is not focused on cancer. Kids have the chance to be kids in a full week of outdoor adventures, including fishing, zip lining, ropes courses, horseback riding, boating and crafts.
Camp Courage is housed at the Balarat Outdoor Education Center located near Jamestown, Colorado, at an elevation of 7,500 ft in the foothills outside of Boulder.
The camp session just ended on July 13, 2016, and over two dozen kids from throughout Colorado came together for a week of fun activities in the mountains.
